I am Andrea, Data Scientist and Business Computational Specialist at the Curtin Institute for Computation.
I have a PhD in theoretical physics from Milan University and I worked as Research Fellow at the School of Mathematics and Statistics of the University of Melbourne. My research ranged from mathematical combinatorics, statistical physics, genomics and traffic flow modelling, and was supported by the ARC Centre of Excellence for Mathematics and Statistics of Complex Systems (MASCOS) and the ARC Centre of Excellence for Mathematical and Statistical Frontiers (ACEMS).
I am also an experienced software developer and I am keen to publish software packages to complement my academic publications. I help maintaining PyTables, a Python library for managing large datasets.
During my academic life, I discovered there are plenty of remarkable stories behind the progress of science. To make these stories reach the general public, I started The Laborastory, a science based story-telling night. If you are in Melbourne, go to one of the shows!
