I am Andrea,
a problem maker, or rather, a problem solver.

I have a PhD in mathematical physics and a few years of research behind me. I’m based in Perth, Australia, and I work remotely for Tweag as a software engineer — these days mostly making Haskell’s developer experience and build systems a little less painful.

I’ve been playing with computers since I was a teenager — early enough to have watched the world change around them. I learned to program in BASIC when I was ten, and my first paid job was as a Linux system administrator.

Since then: solution and cloud architecture, data science and engineering, and now software engineering. Off the clock I solder — mostly resurrecting my kids’ toys — and I fall into deep rabbit-holes.

I organise the Perth Functional Programmers Meetup. Back when I was in Melbourne, I started a science-based story-telling show called The Laborastory.
